Steps to remove your scooter tyre

2. Insert a lubricating liquid (soapy water will do fine) between the rim and your tyre;
   
3. Note the location of the valve so that you can position the two tyre levers on either side of it (this will prevent damage);
   
4. Apply equal force by hand to each tyre lever so that you create a leverage effect;
   
5. Once the rim is disengaged, gently pry the valve out of its seat;
   
6. Once the rim is disengaged, carefully push the valve out of the rim seat; repeat your leverage around the entire circumference of the wheel to completely remove the rim from its seat.

So generally make sure that tyre changers are well inserted between the rim and the tyre before they are levered to ensure that you have good protection against tearing during any repair.
